Joe Diffie, a nation vocalist who had a series of hits during the 1990s with diagram beating melodies and honky-tonk singles like “Home” and “Pickup Man,” kicked the bucket on Sunday in Nashville. He was 61 according to Freeonemedia broadcaster.

The artist Deana Carter said she was “shell stunned” by the news and had would have liked to perform again with Mr. Diffie this year. “He was a powerhouse that left individuals speechless, both on and offstage,” she said in an announcement.

Mr. Diffie is made due by his better half, Tara Terpening Diffie, and seven kids from four relationships.
